FILE NOTES
Your report starts here.
Choose a file to read its header. This tool does not render an image or inspect layers.
How to check a PSD or PSB header
- Choose one local PSD or PSB file, or use the built-in sample.
- Read the format, pixel dimensions, color mode, bit depth and channel count shown in the report.
- Download the JSON report to keep those values. Clear the file when you are finished.
What the result tells you
The built-in sample is a 1 × 1 pixel RGB PSD with 8-bit depth and 3 channels. Your report also includes the filename, file size and check time. These values stay in page memory until you clear the result or leave; downloading saves a copy on your device.
Channel count is not layer count. This tool reads the fixed header only. It cannot preview the image, recover a damaged document or certify that an editor can open it.
PSD header inspector FAQ
Is my PSD uploaded to a server?
No. Only the first 26 bytes are read locally in your browser. Neither the file nor its name, dimensions or report is included in our action-count requests. Read the privacy details.
Can I view layers or preview my PSD here?
No. The report describes the header, not the image or its layers. Open a working copy in an image editor to inspect the full document.
Does a readable header mean the file is undamaged?
No. A truncated file can still have a readable header. Open, save and reopen a copy in the intended editor to check your workflow; this inspector cannot repair the file.
What happens if I select a very large PSB?
The inspector reads the first 26 bytes rather than loading the complete document. File size comes from your browser's file metadata, so a readable report does not prove the entire file is present.
